AVG 2011 upgrade process

Step 1 Downloads Download or save, but do not run, make sure you know where you have put these files.

A.        Download AVGremover

B.         Download AVG 2011 install

Step 2 Uninstall 9.0

            Note if you already tried doing the update and it failed, go to step 4

Go to start,

                        Programs

                        AVG 9.0

                        Uninstall AVG 9.0

                        Select remove all setting and remove items in virus vault

            It should ask you to reboot when finished,

            If the uninstall works go to step 3, if not go to Step 4

Step 3 Installing 2011

Go to the AVG 2011 program you downloaded double click or select run,

When it asks:

Select

AVG Free install,

Next when asked about license

Quick Install,

take check off Use AVG Tool Bar,

It will take a while as it downloads etc.

It may or may not want to reboot.

It should automatically do its updates after install

Go on to step 5

Step 4 Only if AVG 9.0 uninstall does NOT work

            Reboot in safemode, to do this

            Press the function key F8 during boot up, there is not exact time for this, you need to press it, press it, press it, until you hopefully see the safe mode startup menu,

                        Select safemode with networking

            When you log on it will give a warning about safemode, select ok or yes

            Run the Avgremover program you downloaded, it will ask if you are sure, select yes, and yes to any other things it askes.

            It should automatically reboot, let it go in normal

            When it comes back it will want to run the Avgremover again,  select yes and it should finish the removal.

            Go back to step 3

Step 5

            You are mostly finished, it will probably want to run a scan, I would let it do that, it will also popup with something about a PC optiomizer, I would suggest NOT doing that. Most of those cause more problems than they get rid of.
